Good vibes predicted for Herald Cycle Tour

The Herald Cycle Tour is a much-loved road race event that circles Port Elizabeth, or now officially known as Gqeberha.

“It’s one of the favourite races on the calendar. We are invited each year and are really made to feel very welcome. We really enjoy the hospitality and the well organised event,” says Maroesjka.

The 106km route is scenic, but can also be brutal, depending on the weather.

“The weather has been miserable since landing on Friday, but tomorrow looks like ideal race conditions. It’s very different from last year where we had to battle 70kph winds. One thing is for sure that whatever conditions we are about to face, we’re here to race our hearts out.”

Team spirits are high after a successful National Championships last week. This feeling is the “first and foremost at the moment,” says Maroesjka. “Standing on the top step is just a bonus.”

Maroesjka, Zanri, Ashleigh and Charlissa will be taking to the start line tomorrow and we hope to see some exciting racing.
