Reach for Rainbows started with a simple belief.
More young South African women should be racing bicycles. From that passion for cycling grew something far more powerful. That thing, a recognition that sport, when paired with structured education, can genuinely transform lives.
What began as a women’s cycling initiative has evolved into an education-first organisation. We now run accredited learnership programmes that give young women aged 18–23 the qualifications, skills, and support they need to find meaningful work and build better futures.
Sport is still central to who we are. Cycling builds the kind of character that no classroom alone can teach. It’s resilience under pressure, determination on a long climb, the trust that comes from training alongside others. We believe those qualities, combined with a real qualification, are unstoppable.
Reach for Rainbows empowers young South African women aged 18–23 through accredited learnership programmes and sporting participation, building the education, resilience, and character needed to create better lives.
A qualification changes what’s possible. We put accredited learning at the centre of everything we do.
We believe cycling, and sport more broadly, builds the grit and resilience that make education stick.
Our learners become part of a community that supports each other far beyond the duration of the programme.
We measure success by life outcomes. Employment, confidence, and qualifications earned, not race results.
