The 2023 Confederation of African Cycling Track Championships are being held in Cairo, Egypt from 5th to the 9th of March.
In the batch of selected South African cyclists, our very own Jesse Woods and Charlissa Schultz have been selected to participate.
This will be Charlissa’s second time representing South Africa. Her first being in 2020 as a Junior, this year in the Elite category.
“I’m looking forward to racing as an Elite against a very strong field. I’m also excited to see what my form will be like on the track. It’s been a while so very excited to go fast again,” says Charlissa.
Jesse will be participating in the Junior age category for her second time and is a strong contender to do well.
“This is a great opportunity to experience what this sport has to offer and I’m really grateful to be able to go and compete.”
Maroesjka, who coaches Jesse, believes that she shows great potential as a young cyclist.
“We started Reach For Rainbows with the intention to create opportunities for female cyclists who want to compete competitively and hope to contribute more to development in the Hi-Performance space going forward. Being able to support both young athletes on this journey is amazing.”
