The comments made about the Tankwa Trek is nothing short of brutal, but the vibe – worthwhile.
Andrea teamed up with Faranak Partoazar this weekend for her first ever stage race experience.
“I had so much fun. Faranak and I really found our rhythm and could work well together. I really enjoyed racing with her and we had so much fun out there in a stacked field of international and SA riders.”
For her first time taking on a stage race, they finished in 7th place in the GC.
Below are each stage’s results.
Stage 1- 29km, 480m climbing (8th place)
Stage 2- 89km, 1700m climbing (7th place)
Stage 3- 98km, 2200m climbing (7th place)
Stage 4- 55km, 960m climbing (5th place)
“It was super rough and hot out there but I loved the vibe of the event. I think the stage racing bug has bitten me. It was also really cool to have Ariane Lüthi in our corner because she has so much experience. She taught us a lot.”
Besides the racing and the vibe, Andrea loved seeing everyone’s passion for the sport and hopes to do more multi-day racing.
