The Cape Town Cycle Tour has become an exciting race since the creation of a separate Elite Women’s Race in 2018.
Starting in Fish Hoek, the battle to the finish is a 79-kilometre route that includes ascents like Smitswinkel, Chapmans Peak Drive, and Suikerbossie.
It was never going to be an easy race but everyone showed up to play their role to the best of their ability.
Zanri Rossouw, having had a cracker of a season, struggled. “I felt flat and had no energy. I’m disappointed that I couldn’t race an aggressive and positive race but that is part of the sport unfortunately.”
Nicola Walker, in preparation for the Absa Cape Epic, went out with the intention to stay safe and to get exposure for the team. Feeling positive about her race, she remarked, “I had a great day at the Tour!”
While Ashleigh Parsons was devastated with an unlucky puncture with 20km to go, Maroesjka mentioned that the team had, in fact, had a fun day out.
Congratulations to Kim le Court on her win.
