Jesse and Charlissa represented South Africa at the African Track Championships in Egypt on the weekend.
Charlissa shared her experience. “For the Individual Pursuit race I rode the second fastest qualifying time, with Kerry Jonker riding the fastest, meaning we would race each other in the finals. Kerry took the gold medal, and I took silver. I also got a personal best, which I’m so happy about.”
The Women’s Team broke the SA National Team Pursuit Record during Qualification and took the gold medal.
Jesse claimed 1st place in the Women Junior Scratch Race.
“It feels great crossing the line knowing you have won. I can’t really describe the feeling, but I was happy I could win it.” Jesse shared ecstatically.
Charlissa finished 6th in Scratch and Elimination.
“We had two SA teams doing the Madison. Ainsli de Beer VanityGen and I were in a team and claimed silver.”
Along with a great South African team performance, it was a good all-round opportunity for the two Team Reach For Rainbows riders who were able to grow in experience.
