Education plays a key role in empowering women. We’ve recognized the need and hope to play our part in creating opportunities that extend beyond the sports field.
Iviwe Khalo was identified as an ideal candidate for our Rookie and Skills Development Programme.
As a young, talented cyclist with an interest to study further, we were able to assist in making it possible for her to pursue studying IT Engineering, a 2-year course at Istudent Academy.
Her goal is to, with an IT qualification, branch into artificial intelligence and machine learning. She wants to play a part in the evolution of technology and inspire more girls to enter the male dominated environment, showing that it is possible for it to be a non-binary industry.
When not reading, Iviwe loves riding her bicycle, and has dreams to explore her cycling potential too.
Training, however, is not always possible to do due to safety reasons – a massive hiccup when it comes to improving and nurturing cycling goals. Her only options would be to train with a group of Khaltsha cyclists, which is coordinated by Sims Tanga, or on an indoor trainer – now a possibility due to the programme.
With a balanced mindset and approach to life, Iviwe shows such potential for growth, and we hope that through our efforts, we can help to open more doors that allows her to Reach her Rainbow.
