Fighting a virus after working at the Absa Cape Epic, Andrea’s preparation wasn’t where she’d hoped it would be for the SA XCO and XCC.
Held this weekend at Thaba Trails, the women’s line up consisted top contenders; Candice Lill, her recent Epic partner, Amy Wakefield, fellow u/23 rider, Tyler Jacobs to name a few.
Andrea missed out on a 2nd place in the u/23 XCO on Saturday. After taking a wrong turn and being bumped down to 5th place, she banked the hard lesson.
The 25 minute XCC on Sunday was fast and she enjoyed the intensity of the race, crossing the finish line in 3rd place behind Candice Lill and Tyler Jacobs in the Elite Women’s Category.
“I wasn’t quite feeling myself the whole weekend but overall I’m okay with the results. I’m eager to get back to work and see more women taking on the XCC discipline in the future,” says Andrea.
