Ready for National Championships

National Championships is an exciting time of the year when competitive cyclists from around the country flock to a designated town to test their training, grit and legs for a shot at the prestigious National Jersey.

This year, Team Reach For Rainbows head to the beautiful but hot Oudsthoorn, which will be a special event for both Charlissa and Maroejska.

Maroesjka participated in her first National Championship in Oudsthoorn in 2018 and returns to attempt rounding off her podium achievements with the only outstanding medal, the gold. Charlissa will also hope to make this a special memory as it is her “home ground”.

The Criterium will take place on Wednesday, 8 February, followed by the Time Trial on Thursday and Road Race on Friday. While the full team, including new addition, Ashleigh, will be participating in the Road Race, Charlissa will be racing in the u/23 age category and Jesse in the u/19 age category.

[Rumour has it, Jesse has committed to cooking for the team, and there will be a gluten free pizza eating competition – to “carbo-load”].

Back to the serious business, Time Trial Specialist, Zanri, will also be looking to add the only medal missing from her silver and bronze National Championship medals.
